Adjust fee rates to match your categories and plans

Rates are realistic defaults for common categories as of late 2026, not quotes from any marketplace. Check your seller central or platform dashboard for your exact rates.

THE MATH, OUT IN THE OPEN.

What's counted,
and what isn't.

Transparent assumptions beat black boxes.
Everything here you can verify against your own reports.

Included for every channel

  • Marketplace commission or final-value fee, on the same fee base each platform actually uses (Amazon's referral fee applies to the item price; eBay, Etsy, Walmart, Shopify and TikTok fee percentages apply to item + shipping).
  • Fixed per-order fees — eBay's per-order fee, Etsy listing and processing, payment processing flats, TikTok's transaction fee.
  • Amazon FBA per-unit fulfillment fee for the FBA row, and Amazon's minimum $0.30 referral fee.
  • Your product cost, outbound shipping, packaging, and an average ad cost per order.

Not included (deliberately)

  • Sales tax — marketplace-collected tax passes through and doesn't change your margin.
  • Monthly subscription costs (Amazon Pro, Etsy Plus, Shopify plans) — those are fixed overhead, not per-order economics.
  • FBA monthly storage and long-term surcharges, returns processing and A-to-z claims — vary wildly by product; size-tier FBA fees already approximate much of this.
  • Etsy Offsite Ads (12–15% when they apply) — add 15 to Etsy's “Referral %” field if you want to model it.

Which marketplace has the lowest fees?+

It depends on the product. Low-ticket items often do best on your own Shopify store (around 2.9% + 30¢), while marketplaces charge 8–15% commission plus handling fees — in exchange for built-in demand. High-price, lightweight items can absorb Amazon FBA fees easily; heavy low-price items get crushed by them. Enter your real numbers above rather than trusting general rules of thumb.

Does this include Amazon FBA fulfillment fees?+

Yes — the FBA row includes an editable per-unit fulfillment fee on top of the referral fee, so FBA and merchant-fulfilled Amazon can be compared on equal footing. Set it to your size tier's rate from Seller Central.

Are advertising and product costs included?+

Yes. Profit, margin, ROI and break-even all account for product cost, outbound shipping, packaging, other per-order costs and your average ad cost per order. Set ad cost to zero to compare pure channel economics.

What's the difference between break-even and target-margin price?+

Break-even is the item price where profit is exactly zero after fees and costs. Target-margin price is the item price needed to hit the margin you set — for example, to make a 30% margin on this product on Etsy, that's the price column to look at.
