What does a unit
really cost you?

The supplier’s price is only the start. Freight, duty, customs fees and the units that never sell all belong in your cost of goods. Enter one shipment and get the true landed cost per unit, which is the number your margin should be built on.

What belongs in landed cost

  • The price you pay the supplier, in your currency.
  • International freight and insurance.
  • Import duty and any taxes that are not recoverable.
  • Customs brokerage, port and handling fees.
  • Inbound inspection, labeling and delivery to your warehouse.

Why it matters for your books

If these costs are expensed as they happen rather than added to inventory, your margin looks too high in the month you ship and too low in the months you sell. Ask your bookkeeper how landed costs should be capitalized for your business.

COMMON QUESTIONS.

Quick answers.

Reconciling payouts after they land is our day job. Come see ↗

What is landed cost?+

The total cost of getting a product to your door: supplier price plus freight, insurance, duty, customs fees and inbound handling, per unit.

Should I include a damage allowance?+

If you routinely lose or damage some units, yes. Spreading the shipment cost over sellable units shows what each unit that actually sells has to recover.

Is duty always charged on goods plus freight?+

No. The duty base depends on the country and valuation rules. The checkbox lets you test both. Confirm yours with a customs broker.

Does this tool handle several suppliers in one shipment?+

Not directly. Run it once per supplier or product line, then combine the per-unit results.
